Uploading documents
You need Upload patient documents.
Start an upload
Section titled “Start an upload”Any of these opens the Upload documents page:
- On the patient’s Documents tab, select Upload.
- Drag files from your computer onto the patient’s Documents tab. The upload page opens with those files already added.
- On an appointment or a treatment, choose Upload document from its actions. The files are then linked to that record automatically.
The upload page
Section titled “The upload page”The page shows the patient at the top. Add files by dropping them on Drop files here or click to choose, or by clicking it to pick them. You can add more files at any time before uploading.
Each file gets a row in Files to upload:
- A preview for images, or an icon for PDF and DICOM files.
- Title: starts as the file name, without the extension. Change it to something meaningful, such as “Panoramic X-ray” or “Referral from Dr. Ahmadi”.
- Category: starts as the category chosen on the right (see below). Changing it here only affects this file.
- The file name and size.
- A remove button, to drop the file before uploading.
A file Meddesk can’t accept is marked right away and won’t be uploaded: “This file type isn’t supported.” or “Larger than the 25 MB limit.” (with your clinic’s limit).
Applies to every file
Section titled “Applies to every file”The panel on the right sets details for all files in this upload:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Category | The category for every file you haven’t changed individually. Clear it to leave files Uncategorized. |
| Document date | “When the scan, letter or report was made - not when it’s uploaded.” Starts as today. Documents are sorted by this date. |
| Show in the patient portal | Share every file of this upload with the patient. Off by default. |
| Linked visits and records | Pick the patient’s appointments or treatments these files belong to. “They’ll also show on those records.” Shown when you may link at least one kind of record. |
Upload
Section titled “Upload”Select Upload # files. Files upload one after another, each with its own progress bar, and are marked Uploaded when done.
- When every file is uploaded, you see “# documents uploaded.” and return to the patient’s Documents tab.
- If some fail, you see “# files couldn’t be uploaded.” The failed rows show why. Fix what’s needed and select Upload again: only the files that didn’t make it are sent.
Select Cancel to leave without uploading.
