Patient statements
A patient’s Invoices tab
Section titled “A patient’s Invoices tab”On a patient’s record, the Invoices tab (“Every invoice raised for this patient”) has two views.
Invoices view
Section titled “Invoices view”The patient’s invoices, grouped:
| Group | Statuses |
|---|---|
| All | Everything. |
| Outstanding | Draft, Issued, Partially paid: money still owed. |
| Paid | Paid. |
| Cancelled | Cancelled. |
Each shows its number, date, due date, items, total and what’s owed. New invoice starts an invoice for this patient.
Statement view
Section titled “Statement view”A running account of the patient’s billing over a period:
- Charges: each issued invoice (“Invoice #42”, with its first item and how many more).
- Payments: each payment and refund made against those invoices.
- Total charges and Total payments for the period.
Draft and cancelled invoices aren’t charges. Use the period picker to change the range. “Nothing in this period” means no issued invoices or payments fell in it.
With Print on, print the statement to hand to the patient. Your Patient statement footer from the Print settings appears at the bottom.
What patients see
Section titled “What patients see”In the patient portal, patients see My invoices: each invoice with its items, discounts, payments, refunds and Balance due, plus a Billing summary (outstanding balance, total paid, overdue invoices). The dashboard also shows their Outstanding balance.
