Viewing and managing documents

A patient’s Documents tab (needs Read patient documents) shows every document of the patient, newest first by Document date.

  • Grid shows a thumbnail card per document with its title, category and date. A globe marks documents shared in the portal, and a link icon shows how many records a document is linked to.
  • List shows a table with Document, Category, Date, Size and Uploaded by.

Switch between them with the two buttons at the top right. Above the documents:

  • Category chips: All, then each category in use, with counts. Select one to show only that category.
  • File type chips: All types, Image, PDF, DICOM.

With no documents yet, the tab shows a drop area to start uploading.

Select a document to open it full screen.

  • Images: use Zoom in, Zoom out and Fit at the bottom. When zoomed in, drag the image to move around it.
  • PDFs are shown inside the viewer.
  • DICOM files show “No preview for this file” with a Download button.
  • Previous and Next (or the left and right arrow keys) move through the documents currently shown on the tab, with a counter such as 3 / 12.

The side panel shows the Category, Document date, Description, linked records (select one to open it), whether it’s shared in the Patient portal, the File name, type and size, and who Uploaded it and when. Its buttons:

With Delete patient documents, Who opened this at the bottom lists every time the file was opened, by staff or by the patient in the portal. “Nobody has opened this file yet.” if no one has.
