Plugins (modules)

Meddesk has a core that every clinic gets (patients, appointments, staff, finance, reports and the patient portal) and a set of optional modules, called plugins in Configuration. Each clinic turns on only the modules it needs. You need the System administrator permission to change them.

  1. Open Configuration › Plugins. Modules are grouped by category: Clinical, Documents, Finance and Operations.
  2. Switch each module on or off.
  3. Select Save changes.

You see Plugins updated. Reloading… and the page reloads by itself, because new menus, pages and tabs appear (or disappear) everywhere in the app.

Some modules build on another one. Under such a module you see Requires …:

Module Requires
Inventory Invoice
Expenses Inventory (and so Invoice too)
  • To turn one on, the module it requires must be on too. You can switch both on in the same save.
  • You can’t turn a module off while another module that needs it is still on. Turn the dependent module off first, or both in the same save.

If you get this wrong, Meddesk explains what to do, for example Enable Invoice first - Inventory depends on it.

  • Its menus, pages, tabs, dashboard widgets and permissions disappear for everyone.
  • Its data is kept. Turn the module back on and everything is there again.
  • Its permissions stay saved on your roles, so people regain the same access when it’s turned back on.
  • Its settings start with sensible defaults. Some modules add their own section to Configuration.
  • Its permissions appear in Access roles. Turning a module on doesn’t change any role. Give your roles the permissions they need.

WhatsApp Operations Your clinic’s WhatsApp number inside Meddesk: one shared inbox, appointment messages, auto-replies and AI replies.
