Signing in and out

Meddesk Console is the app your clinic’s staff use every day. Each clinic has its own web address, and you sign in there with the email address and password of your staff account.

  • You need a user account. Someone in your clinic who can manage settings creates it for you (see Staff access). Having a staff profile alone is not enough. A staff profile only becomes a sign-in once a user account is created for it.
  • Your sign-in email is the email address on your staff profile.
  • The first time you sign in, you use a temporary password given to you by whoever created your account. See Your first sign-in.
  1. Open your clinic’s Meddesk address in your browser. The page title reads Sign in to followed by your clinic’s name.
  2. Type your Email and Password.
  3. Select Sign in.

If everything is correct, you see Welcome back. and land on the page you were trying to open, or on the Dashboard.

You see Incorrect email or password. For your clinic’s security, Meddesk shows the same message whether:

  • the email address is not registered,
  • the password is wrong,
  • the user account has been disabled, or
  • the staff profile behind it has been marked inactive.

Check your email and password and try again. If you are sure they are right, ask the person who manages staff access in your clinic to check your account.

After a failed attempt, a small security check box may appear above the Sign in button. Complete it, and the button becomes available again. In that browser tab, the check keeps appearing on every attempt until you sign in successfully.

If the box says The security check couldn’t load. Refresh the page and try again., reload the page.

Sometimes Meddesk needs one more step before you can use the app. You are taken straight to it, and the rest of the app stays locked until it’s done:

What you see Why What to do
Set a new password Your account has a temporary password. Choose your own password.
Two-factor verification You turned on two-factor authentication. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. See Two-factor authentication.
Set up two-factor authentication Your clinic requires two-factor authentication and you haven’t set it up yet. Set it up.

Each of these screens has a Sign out instead link if you want to stop and come back later.

Your sign-in lasts a fixed length of time, set for your clinic by the Meddesk platform. Being active does not extend it. When it runs out, you are taken back to the sign-in page with the message Your session has ended. Please sign in again. After you sign in, you return to the page you were on.

You are also signed out straight away if:

  • you sign that device out from Account settings,
  • someone with settings access signs you out, resets your password, or deletes your user account, or
  • your staff profile is marked inactive.
  1. Select your name or picture at the top-right of the screen.
  2. Select Sign out.
  3. Confirm with Yes, sign out.

You see Logged out and return to the sign-in page. Signing out ends the sign-in on this device only. To sign out other devices, see Sessions.
