Configuration overview

Configuration is where your clinic’s organization-wide settings live: your clinic’s details, languages, branding, which modules are on, roles, and who can sign in.

Only staff with the System administrator permission can open Configuration. Everyone else doesn’t see it in the sidebar, and gets You don’t have access to this page if they follow a link to it.

By default, the Manager role has this permission. See Access roles to give or remove it.

In the sidebar, under More, select Configuration. A menu on the left lists the sections:

Section What it controls
Organization Details Your clinic’s name, contact details, address and country.
General Appointment rules, the Shamsi calendar, timezone, refund window and languages.
Email Which automatic emails are sent.
Appearance Logos, favicon, browser title and brand color.
Patient Portal What patients see in the portal, and the hours they can request appointments.
Plugins Which optional modules are turned on.
Access Roles Roles and their permissions, and whether two-factor authentication is required.
Staff Access Who can sign in, their roles, password and 2FA resets, and their sessions.

Some modules add their own section to this menu when they’re turned on. Each module’s page describes its settings.

Most sections have a Save changes button at the top. Nothing changes until you select it, and you then see a short confirmation such as General settings updated. Uploading a logo or favicon is different: it’s saved as soon as you pick the file.

A few things are set for your clinic by the Meddesk platform team, not in Configuration:

  • how long a sign-in lasts before staff must sign in again,
  • how long password-reset links stay valid,
  • the email service used to send emails,
  • connecting your clinic’s WhatsApp number, and which WhatsApp and AI features are available to you.

Contact the Meddesk platform team if you need any of these changed.
