Treatment settings

Open Configuration › Treatments (“Estimates, and what patients see about payments”). You need the System administrator permission. Select Save changes. You see Treatment settings saved.

Setting	What it does
Show estimated plan totals	Adds up treatment estimates on plans and printed plans. Turn off to show estimates per treatment only, for example if plans change too often for a total to be meaningful.
Update statuses automatically	On by default. Booking a visit schedules its treatments, starting the visit puts them in progress, and a plan completes once all its treatments are finished. Treatments themselves are never completed automatically. See Change the status. Turn off to move every status by hand.
Patient portal shows	What patients see next to their treatments and plans in the portal: Estimate and payment status, Estimate only, or Payment status only.

What patients see in the portal

Under My treatments and Treatment plans, patients see each treatment’s status, its plan, and notes your team marked Visible to the patient. Depending on Patient portal shows, they also see the estimate and/or whether it’s been invoiced and paid.
